The Science Behind Our Enhanced Deodorant Formula
At WildWillow Lotions and Potions, we believe in crafting products that work in harmony with your body and nature. Our deodorant formula has recently undergone some thoughtful changes, and we’re excited to share them with you. Not only will this new formula provide even better odor protection, but it’s also designed to be gentler on the skin, provide a smooth glide on texture and absorbs well into the skin. Let’s dive into each ingredient and its role in making this deodorant effective, safe, and nourishing.
The ingredients: What they do and how they benefit you
**Zinc Ricinoleate**
Derived from castor oil, Zinc Ricinoleate is a powerful odor absorber. It doesn’t block your pores or inhibit sweating (which is important for your body’s natural detoxification process). Instead, it neutralizes the odor-causing molecules, keeping you fresh throughout the day without interfering with your body’s natural functions.
**Candelilla Wax**
This plant-based wax, derived from the leaves of the Candelilla shrub, is an excellent vegan alternative to beeswax. It provides structure and solidity to the deodorant, ensuring it applies smoothly without being too hard. Candelilla wax is also known for its skin-conditioning properties, creating a protective barrier on the skin that helps to lock in moisture.
**Babassu Oil**
Babassu oil, extracted from the seeds of the Babassu palm, is a luxurious, lightweight oil that absorbs quickly into the skin. It’s rich in lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent base for deodorant. Babassu oil also soothes and softens the skin, reducing the risk of irritation.
**Jojoba Oil **
Jojoba oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, making it an incredibly gentle moisturizer. It helps to balance oil production, which can be beneficial for those with sensitive skin. In our deodorant, jojoba oil acts as an emollient, softening and protecting the skin while providing additional moisture.
**Cetyl Alcohol **
Despite its name, cetyl alcohol isn’t like the drying alcohols you might be familiar with. This fatty alcohol is derived from plants and is used in our formula as an emulsifier and thickener. It helps blend the oils and waxes smoothly, creating a silky texture that glides easily onto the skin. Cetyl alcohol also has emollient properties, helping to soften and soothe your underarms.
**Magnesium Hydroxide**
Magnesium Hydroxide is a star ingredient in natural deodorants. It works by balancing the pH of the underarm area, creating an environment that’s less hospitable to odor-causing bacteria. Unlike baking soda, which can be irritating for some, Magnesium Hydroxide is gentle on the skin, making it suitable for those with sensitive underarms.
**Arrowroot Powder**
Arrowroot powder is a natural starch that helps absorb moisture, keeping your underarms dry and comfortable without clogging your pores. It also has a silky texture that contributes to the smooth application of the deodorant. Additionally, arrowroot powder is known for its soothing properties, making it a great choice for sensitive skin.
**Vitamin E T-50**
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. In our deodorant, Vitamin E also acts as a natural preservative, extending the shelf life of the product. It’s a gentle ingredient that also provides skin-conditioning benefits, leaving your underarms soft and nourished.
**Fragrance/Essential Oils**
The final touch to our deodorant is the fragrance or essential oils. Whether you prefer a light, natural scent or a more robust fragrance, this small percentage adds a pleasant aroma without being overwhelming. We use high-quality essential oils known for their skin-friendly properties, ensuring that your deodorant not only smells good but also contributes to overall skin health.
How to Use Natural Deodorant in a Push-Up Biodegradable Cardboard Tube
We’ve chosen to package our deodorant in a push-up biodegradable cardboard tube to align with our commitment to sustainability.
Here’s how to use it:
Push Up the Deodorant: Gently push the bottom of the tube to raise the deodorant. Start with a small amount exposed above the edge, about 1/8 of an inch, to avoid over-application.
Apply Sparingly: Apply the deodorant to clean, dry underarms. A thin layer is usually enough, as our formula is concentrated and effective.
Let It Absorb: Allow the deodorant to absorb into your skin for a few moments before getting dressed. This helps prevent any residue on clothing.
Store Properly: After each use, simply push the deodorant back down slightly to protect the exposed product. Keep the tube in a cool, dry place to prevent it from softening too much in warm conditions.
Dispose Responsibly: Once you’ve used up the deodorant, the tube can be composted or recycled, depending on your local facilities. This step is as gentle on the planet as the deodorant is on your skin.
We’re proud of the improvements we’ve made to our deodorant formula, prioritizing your comfort and well-being while staying true to our commitment to natural ingredients. This new formula is designed to provide long-lasting odor protection while being gentle on your skin. We can’t wait for you to try it and experience the benefits of these carefully selected ingredients.
As always, thank you for supporting WildWillow Lotions and Potions. We’re dedicated to bringing you the best in natural skincare, and we’re thrilled to have you on this journey with us.
